Skiing
With over 250kms of piste, and a fantastic lift system Serre Chevalier is one of the best ski regions in France. The snow record is fantastic, combined with more than 300 days of sunshine every year.
Serre Chevalier is located in Hautes Alpes which is the most southern area in the alps with real high mountains. It is actually the area in the French alps where you find most mountain peaks more than 4.000 meters. Surrounded by national park, Serre Chevalier has spectacular mountain scenery and beautiful runs through France's biggest larch forest, giving good protection and visibility in bad weather. Above the tree line there are huge, white bowls with superb skiing for all abilities.
At an altitude of 1200-2830m, Serre Chevalier boasts 71 Ski Lifts (3 cable cars, 6 cabin lifts, 19 chairlifts, 43 drag lifts) and 104 runs (14 black, 43 red, 28 blue, and 19 greens).
Serre Chevalier is also a popular destination for snowboarders of all levels. Advanced boarders can enjoy plenty of off piste runs. There’s a big air in Briancon, half pipe in Villeneuve, and boarder cross in both Villeneuve and Chantemerle. Intermediates will also enjoy the variety of pistes and open tree lined runs.
Cycling
Chalet Roche Noir is situated at Le Monetier Les Bains on the D1091 that runs South East between Grenoble and Briancon. Approximately 10K from Briancon Chalet Roche Noir is an ideal base camp for the cycling enthusiast. And of course the Chalet is on the route of theTour de France stage from Briancon and finishing at Alpe d’Huez.
Local Summer activities include Rock Climbing, white water rafting, hiking, tennis, swimming pools, golf at Montgenevre, mountain biking, hang gliding, go-kart racing, horse riding, fishing, paragliding and lots, lots more.
